5 Signs It's Time to Upgrade Your Small Business Website

Published by Social Moves Marketing

Socially Speaking...

Today's conversation is about something I see all the time—business owners who have built an amazing company, but their website hasn't caught up.

Hi, there!

Can I tell you something?

One of my favorite things about what I do is getting to hear the stories behind people's businesses. Whether you started your company in your garage, at your kitchen table, or finally decided to turn your passion into something real—every business has a story.

But here's what I see all the time...

Someone has poured their heart into building an incredible business, and then I visit their website...and it doesn't tell that story at all.

Sometimes it's outdated.

Sometimes it's confusing.

Sometimes it's just been forgotten because, well...life gets busy.

And trust me—I get it. When you're running a business, updating your website usually ends up somewhere between "organize the office closet" and "finally answer that email from three weeks ago."

So if you've been wondering whether your website could use a little love, here are five signs it might be time.

1. You cringe a little when someone asks for your website.

Be honest...

Have you ever hoped someone doesn't click the link in your Instagram bio?

If your first thought is, "Ugh...I really need to update that," there's your answer.

Your website should make you feel proud. It should feel like an extension of your business—not something you apologize for.

2. It doesn't feel like YOU anymore.

Businesses grow.

Maybe you've changed your logo.

Maybe you've added services.

Maybe you've completely shifted your dream client.

But your website?

It's still living in 2016.

Your website should tell the story of who you are today, not who you were when you first launched.

3. It's frustrating to use on your phone.

Here's a little challenge.

Open your website on your phone.

Really look at it.

Can you find your contact information quickly?

Can someone book with you in under a minute?

Can you actually read everything without pinching and zooming?

If not...your customers probably feel the same way.

4. You're getting visitors...but not inquiries.

This one is huge.

A website isn't just supposed to sit there looking pretty.

It should be working for you while you're sleeping, running errands, or grabbing your morning coffee.

It should answer questions.

Build trust.

Guide people exactly where they need to go.

If people are visiting but nobody's reaching out, your website might not be giving them a reason to.

5. You've simply outgrown it.

Honestly?

Sometimes there's nothing "wrong" with your website.

You've just grown.

And that's something worth celebrating.

Your business has evolved, your confidence has grown, and your brand deserves a website that reflects where you are now—not where you started.

A little reminder before you go...

Your website doesn't have to be perfect.

It just has to reflect your business and your hard work.

It should welcome people in, tell your story, and make it ridiculously easy for someone to say, "Yep. This is exactly who I've been looking for!"

If reading this made you think, "Okay...I should probably update my website," don't worry—you're definitely not alone.

That's exactly why I started Social Moves Marketing.

I wanted to help business owners have websites they're genuinely excited to share. Websites that feel like them—beautiful, strategic, easy to navigate, and built with intention.

Because your business deserves more than a website that simply exists.

It deserves one that helps you grow.

Thank you for spending a few minutes here with me. I truly hope you found something helpful, whether you're ready for a redesign or just gathering ideas for the future. Take what serves you. Leave inspired. Come back anytime. 🤍

See you soon,

Nyla Irizarry 🤍

P.S. There's something so special about watching a business grow. If I get to be even a small part of that journey, I'd call that a win.
